How to request an electricity connection

Start main content

The cost of getting an electricity connection is set by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Energy and depends on whether the house is new, whether you are requesting electricity for the first time, or whether it is a house which had electricity connected at some time but it was disconnected. The price of getting an electricity connection is not dependent on the supplier, which only acts as an intermediary with the electricity distributor for the area.

What do I need to do to connect the electricity in a new house?

If your house is a house of first occupation, you will have to present the following documentation to your supplier: licence of first occupation, identity document, certificate of occupancy, low-voltage electrical installation certificate and property deed or lease agreement.

What is required to connect the electricity in a house of second occupation?

If your house already had the electricity connected at some point, you will need to present the same documents as for a new house, except the certificate of occupancy and licence of first occupation.

How much does it cost to connect the electricity in a new house?

The price of connecting the electricity depends on several factors and, above all, on the power contracted. When you connect the electricity, you have to pay for the following items: right of access, right of extension, right of connection and a security deposit. The security deposit is equivalent to the theoretical monthly consumption that would occur in 50 hours with the contracted power.

What does it cost to connect the electricity in a house of second occupation?

In this case, you would have to pay for the same rights, except the extension right, which is paid for three years. Therefore, if the disconnection was prior to that period, you would not have to pay the extension cost.

What does it cost to connect the electricity?

The current rates are 19.40 EUR/kW for rights of access, 17.37 EUR/kW for extension rights and 9.04 EUR/kW for the right of connection, to which cost you have to add the amount for VAT.
